This Appleseed report examines the economic impact of Boston's eight research universities (Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Massachusetts Boston, Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Tufts University) on the Metropolitan Boston Area.

This report summarizes the collective economic impact of Salem State College, the Salem State College Foundation and the Salem State College Assistance Corporation on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Essex County and the City of Salem.

For Harvard University, Appleseed assessed the university's impact on the Boston area economy, both as a major enterprise in itself and through its role in education, research, business development and community service.
